MEET NOVA 3 LABS

Nutrition is the foundation of everything we do and are,  it is what fuels us, and keeps our bodies equipped for whatever we decide to take on in our day.  At Nova 3 Labs we believe that building a strong nutritional foundation is only laying the groundwork for your future success. Whether your primary goals are improved athletic performance, body composition, and general health and a better quality of life, a dynamic nutritional program will assist you in achieving and maintaining those goals.

In today’s society, it is incredibly easy to be confused and overwhelmed by the vast amount of misinformation offered by well-meaning sources.   Our primary purpose is to demystify the entire process and develop a clear, customized nutritional program which will be tailored towards your personal goals. Beyond that, our aim is to educate our clients and athletes to see beyond nutrition as a diet, but as fuel for life.

Inadequate nutrition can lead to chronic disease, poor performance, obesity, and a lack of energy. Optimal nutrition leads to high performance, lack of illness, lean body mass, and an abundance of energy. With this in mind, we take the multifaceted approach of implementing proven athletic nutrition, the latest research into health + performance, and a strong emphasis on whole foods and individual concerns.

Lindsey Voorhees has been involved in the fitness industry since 2009, where she started her journey in bodybuilding. After competing in bodybuilding, she then switched her focus from an aesthetics based sport to the performance where she now competes in Crossfit®️ as well as powerlifting.

She has spent the last six years helping numerous clients, spent hundreds of hours reading research studies, countless hours listening to podcasts, attending seminars & webinars and she believes that nutrition is the single most important aspect of everything we work toward in our training lives.

Mekenzie Riley

Mekenzie Riley

Nutritionist

Mekenzie Riley is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, as well as a 2016 CrossFit Games competitor as part of 5th place team, OC3 Black. She is also the founder/owner of her private nutrition consulting business Real Results Nutrition Consulting where she helps ordinary everyday people become extraordinary through diet modification, helping them achieve their goals and break down their barriers.

Mekenzie has a Bachelors and Master’s degree in dietetics from Eastern Illinois University. While she has always taken a particular interest in performance nutrition throughout her studies, it wasn’t until she reached the top tier of competition in the CrossFit world that she experienced the transition to eating like an athlete, aka “fueling the machine.” Mekenzie has made the transition from eating for health and wellness to eating like an athlete, something many people struggle to distinguish. With help from a nutrition coach of her own, she can speak to the extremely underestimated and underutilized power of the “fueling the machine” approach to eating. As she continues to compete at the Regional/ Games level, she embraces the platform to connect with other athletes on discovering the power of eating like an athlete and helping them unlock their potential through diet!

Tina Johnson

Tina Johnson

Nutritionist

Tina Johnson has always enjoyed being active all of her life, and about eight years ago, found CrossFit, and has never looked back!  She completed her Masters of Science in Exercise Physiology at the University of Alberta, where she spent much of her spare time in the Exercise Physiology Lab testing athletes.  During this time, Tina also had the opportunity to work with many high-performance athletes in a variety of sports both in the lab and in the gym.  This led her to an opportunity to teach at a college for a few years, where she developed a strong interest in researching nutrition and led her to complete the Functional Diagnostic Nutrition certification.  Tina now continues to coach both CrossFit athletes and hockey athletes, teach at the local college while continuing to grow her passion in the nutrition field and functional lab area to improve an individual’s hormonal balance.
Tina first had an interest in Nova 3 Labs when seeing that the CEO, Mike, also had his FDN-P certification, and after a friend had worked with him and had great results.  Nova 3 Labs has created some very sound nutritional supplements and clearly, has helped many athletes with their nutritional goals!
Tina’s goals with the Nova 3 team is to bring more awareness of the company to Canada and to help those seeking nutritional guidance. She would also love to help anyone looking to feel better and address any hormonal issues or gut impairment they may be facing.
